Synopsis/Details
12-year-old Lisa Clemens lies in her bed dying of a terminal illness. Her mom Michelle Clemens sits by her side as their nurse, Marsha Garrett, takes care of all Lisa’s medical needs. Michelle receives a package from a foreign country with a candle in it. She suspects it’s sent by someone who knows Lisa, because Lisa loves candles. She shows Lisa, who’s barely able to move, but still manages to smile. Michelle lights the candle and goes to the kitchen to get a plate to put under it. When she returns Lisa is sitting up and much more alert. Michelle is shocked and Marsha, who comes back in the room after getting some linens, almost faints. Lisa asks Marsha to let her have a word with her mom alone. When they’re alone she speaks to her mom about not being scared and that she’s been asked to convey a message to her from someone that exists in the higher plains of infinity. But her mom worries because she doesn’t think she’s making sense. Marsha comes back in the room to hook up Lisa’s oxygen for the night and puts out the candle, which is when Lisa’s health deteriorates rapidly, but Lisa still manages to say the words “Need Candle”. That’s when her mom suspects that the candle being lit is what’s needed for Lisa’s health to come back. She tells Marsha to light the candle. Marsha Lights it and Lisa’s health comes back again. After that, Michelle has a lengthily conversation with Lisa, and is told about the afterlife and the infinite existence we all will become aware of when we reach the completion of this journey.
