The Father

George is contacted by a woman claiming to be his daughter, George is both happy and surprised at the news but it isn't long before they decide it's time to meet. They finally arrange a meeting and it's decided that in just under a weeks time they'll finally see each other.

George tells his friend Frank the happy news and Frank's clearly happy for him as he tells him all about his new found daughter. As the days pass his daughter Jennifer prepares for the meeting by buying her father a watch as a gift. George buys some flowers and perfume as he prepares to see her. A few days before the meeting he is violently attacked but suffers no longterm injuries.

Unsure about the location where he's meeting his daughter he decides he should take a drive through the day before. George visits a museum nearby and before driving back he decides to stop off at a local pub for a quick drink. While only intending to have a couple he gets talking to some people and ends up staying later than intended.

As George drives back in heavy rain he's clearly had too much to drink as he passes through the village where his daughter is due to stay. On his way through the village he accidentilly hits a woman and knocks her down, he quickly pulls over and gets out of his car, as he approaches the woman he takes out his mobile phone to phone an ambulance. Realizing he's had far too much to drink he panics and instead of pressing send he ends the call and turns to walk back to his car as the woman groans in pain at the side of the road. George now drives off leaving the woman to die.

As George arrives at the inn where his daughter is staying the next day he is told that she arrived a day early, he is told she was killed the night before in a hit and run. George is finally found by police dead in his armchair.
