Synopsis/Details
“The Sleeping Cupid” follows an art student, Daniel, who has traveled from England to Los Angeles in search of a stolen Michelangelo statue known as The Sleeping Cupid. He pretends to be an Interpol agent, but the ruse is quickly abandoned at the first sign of danger, revealing the anxious, uncertain man he really is. His partner in literal crime is Ava, a mysterious woman claims to be an art restorer, then an FBI agent, then a master thief. Ava leads Daniel on an intensely deceitful, deadly hunt for the statue, enlisting the help of an old friend, Jules, a master forger. The trio are pursued by Brooks, a shady art dealer who has promised the Cupid to multiple customers, and Fasoli, another forger who has a longstanding grudge against Jules. As they evade gunshots, crowbars, cop cars and religious zealots, Daniel grows more confident and Ava more compassionate. They bond over shared guilt at disappointing their parents and together, pull of the ultimate con -a happy ending.
