Synopsis/Details
Siblings Kelly and Jeffrey Martin are spending their school vacation on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, bunking above their aunt's gift shop and working traditional summer jobs.
During lifeguarding try-outs Kelly finds herself competing with young, handsome veteran guard, Danny. With Danny testing her skills, Kelly stumbles upon an intriguing coin that's washed up on the shore. Sharing the find with Jeffrey and then their aunt, the siblings are directed to a local museum where they learn long-held local rumors of treasure. And that their coin could be part of a larger treasure horde.
Making use of Danny's local knowledge, the young adventurers find themselves swept up in tales of Atlantic pirates and their ruthless land-dwelling brethren, the "Mooncussers." Local lore says legendary pirate Captain Kidd may have buried treasure on Tucker's Island. But this island is known to have sunk into the Atlantic a hundred years ago.
The trio embarks on a brazen adventure to prove the legend true and claim a lost treasure that lies submerged with Old Man Tucker's island. But the secrets are guarded by a nefarious local, Ryder Hayes, who has unique ties to the island and a dangerous score to settle.
Leveraging his unique knowledge, the kids strike a deal with Hayes. During a daring midnight treasure hunt they seem on the verge of hoisting up the fortune.
But when Hayes changes the game to his advantage, the secret of Tucker's Island may lie hidden forever and the young adventurers enter a desperate fight for their lives.
Treasure of Tucker's Island is based on the book series Adventures Along the Jersey Shore by Hart/Calu published by Plexus Publishing (Boardwalk Empire).
