Synopsis/Details
Tom Baker, a 16-year-old boy from Hootsville, Illinois, finds himself trapped in a terrifying supernatural game inside his own home. His father, Charles, has spent years researching their family's cursed history, leading to the discovery of mysterious gold coins marked with the number "99." The coins trigger a countdown, trapping Tom and his family in a nightmarish time loop where reality warps, time bends, and an unseen entity manipulates their minds. As the timer ticks down from 99 minutes, Tom encounters eerie riddles and cryptic clues that force him to retrace his actions before the countdown began. Each puzzle reveals more about a dark family secret involving an ancestral curse. Meanwhile, his mother, Nancy, becomes ensnared in the entity’s illusions, and Charles struggles to keep his sanity intact. The only way to survive is to uncover the hidden treasure linked to the curse before time runs out. Along the way, Tom’s girlfriend Arya appears outside the house, seemingly unaffected by the supernatural forces. However, multiple versions of Arya—each with different appearances and motives—begin appearing inside, challenging his trust in reality. The ghostly presence controlling the game, known only as "Lotus," forces them into sinister moral dilemmas, testing their willpower and relationships. As the countdown nears zero, Tom and his family must decipher the ultimate clue: "Remember your last 99 minutes to find the treasure." Their survival hinges on unraveling the past before the curse claims another generation of Bakers. But with time slipping away and Lotus tightening her grip, will they find the treasure in time—or will they become the next victims of the deadly game?

1. "The gripping intensity of films like SAW is infused, in this script, into an immersive, surreal atmosphere that recalls films like MOTHER!"
2. "Indelible imagery only amplifies the gut-punch impact of any given moment, from a crow feasting on a dead owl in a chest, to the visage of a woman eerily smiling, her teeth coated in red."
3. "Careening from one startling revelation and puzzle to another, the script keeps its unexpected surprises coming all the way to its final scenes, rounding off on a cathartic closing note with an ironic twist."
4. "Setting the vast majority of its narrative in a single house, it feels as though it could be produced on an eminently reasonable budget, from a practical perspective."
