Synopsis/Details
Despite his mental and emotional difficulties, WILFORD HENDERSON wants the same thing that
nearly everyone else wants: a romantic partner. However, his mother ISADORA strives to protect her
son from the hurt she experienced when she lost Wilford's father.
Isadora encourages Wilford to connect with his friends at the County Development Disabilities
Workshop where he works. His friend CYRUS steers him toward AMBER, a young woman with her
own set of challenges. However, Wilford wants a “normal girl”, despite warnings from both Isadora
and Cyrus that such a relationship lies beyond his reach.
Isadora also wants to protect the sizable fortune that Wilford inherited from his father, especially when
sexy neighbor SOPHIA starts making her moves on Wilford. Wilford becomes so entranced by her that
he tells his mother he's moving in with his new girlfriend.
While Sophia seduces Wilford with her sweet words and sexy body, she tells her girlfriends that she's
more attracted to Wilford's bank account than his personality. When Isadora learns of Sophia's past
efforts to steal money and valuables from rich men, she hatches a scheme to have new neighbor
BLAIR, a handsome young man, to put the moves on Sophia and break up Wilford's “love connection”.
When Wilford breaks up with her Sophia starts a new relationship with PAUL, an older man who has
made his fortune as a "life-improvement specialist" and motivational speaker. Although Sophia finds
herself drawn in by Paul's worldly charm and sophistication, she pulls back when she learns he's a
single father. When Paul's daughter TANNER shows an intense interest in her, she flees the relationship
and tries to reconnect with Wilford.
Meanwhile, Wilford learns of his mother's scheme and breaks off his relationship with her. He rides a
bus to the local jewelry store to buy a ring for Sophia, only to get hit by a car as he crosses the street.
When they hear the news, Isadora and Sophia engage in an intense confrontation over the man they
both love. Sophia promises to repay the money she conned from Wilford.
When Isadora arrives at Wilford's hospital room, he yells at her to leave. However, when Sophia
arrives, he welcomes her back into his life, although he admits to feeling hurt when he learns she has
been using him for his money. Sophia's guilt over how she used him drives her away.
Two years later, they meet again, and Wilford's physical and emotional wounds have healed. They
agree to stay friends and chat over a cappuccino.
