CHILDREN OF THE STAR

At certain points in a father’s journey, there are times he has to do things he doesn't like to, in order to protect his children. Some acts of desperation propel ordinary men to great success. Perhaps to the benefit, or perhaps to the detriment of society. This is the story of DR. GARY JONES a brilliant military scientist and loving father, determined to find a way to heal his twins and allow them to lead a normal life. Though attempting to harness the power of a white dwarf star for the US Army, Dr. Jones remains unwavering in his pursuit to provide a cure for his twins. CALEB and AALIYAH are typical ten-year-old twins who long for nothing else but to be normal kids. Suffering from a myriad of ailments including juvenile osteoporosis, severe allergies and a disease which decreases their cells' flexibility which results in a risk of various life-threatening complications, they are prisoners in their own bodies. At his lab, Dr. Jones, Caleb and Aaliyah enter a chamber in the corner of the room. They look around this sterile box as the doors of the chamber slowly close and seal. FROM THE CONTROLS: Dr. Jones initiates the transformation sequence. As lights go on inside the chamber, they dim in the lab. Energy pumps into the chamber. The STORM swirls faster. Lights flicker, until -- The chamber activates. The STORM strikes hard. Shortly after their transformation, Caleb and Aaliyah begin to exhibit increased strength, stamina, and the ability to manipulate fire. However, the military uncovers Dr. Jones’ breakthrough and demands to know the secret behind the machine and seeks to use the now-16- year-old twins in the service of the military. Dr. Jones refuses, which turns the doctor and his twins into enemies of the US military. Caleb sacrifices himself in order that his dad and sister may get away safely and becomes a military prisoner. Caleb lies strapped to a table with various needles stuck to his arm. ALARMS blare in the background. Four armed men rush around the corner and see Aaliyah down the hall. They open FIRE as Aaliyah ducks out of the way and disappears around the corner. The gunmen give chase. ALARMS continue to wail. Aaliyah rushes to Caleb's side and pulls the needles from his arms. Aaliyah cuts the straps from Caleb's arms and legs. Caleb and Aaliyah look on as armed men push in on them. Caleb immediately balls his hands into a fists and his eyes widen. The guards ready their guns. CRASH -- Two huge BOLTS OF LIGHTNING race down the hall. The soldiers are blown to the ground in a flash of electricity. The blast shatters everything in its path. Aaliyah and Caleb look over the destruction in front of them. For now it appears as though Caleb and Aaliyah are free to lead a normal life, though the military monitors their every move.
