Synopsis/Details
Preston and Corey, two young men on the final leg of their Mormon Mission, find themselves in Vancouver trying to make sense of the internal struggles of love, commitment, self-awareness, and religion. A strong rain beats down on the pavement and forces the boys into a local pizza shop for shelter. Preston sits alone near a window, crumpled napkins and greasy paper plates on the table. As Corey approaches the table, a teenaged boy bumps into Corey spilling his beer all over Corey. Corey quickly jumps back and rushes away. Recognizing that Preston and Corey don’t quite belong, a young woman (Karen) approaches the boys and offers a helping hand. The rain continues to pour and with nowhere else to go, Preston and Corey find themselves at Karen’s doorstep, accepting the hospitality of a near stranger. Sharing her apartment with an HIV positive friend, Karen introduces the boys to Shawn. Still unsure of their new-found friend, the boys are up early the next morning ready to leave. As the days turn to months, the boys, Karen and Shawn form an unlikely friendship. However, trouble looms as Shawn’s sickness begins to ravage his body. Watching their friend die has a profound effect on the boys causing them to rethink everything they grew up believing. With the mounting doubts in his head, Corey begins to question the validity of the work they have been doing over the past two years. While Corey struggles with religious commitments, Preston wrestles with his feelings for his fiancée back in Utah. Preston is further conflicted when a new young woman (Zara) comes into his life. With Preston’s fiancée in town for a surprise visit, Corey sets a trap for Preston to see where his loyalties lie. At dinner Preston comes face to face with his new love interest and his fiancée where he discovers his true feelings. Cornered and betrayed by Corey, Preston storms out of the restaurant leaving his guest unsure of what is happening. The following day Preston reveals that he is not going through with the wedding. The young woman is left shattered and confused. The boys have now been walking for seven hundred and thirty days, and it is finally time to head home. A car pulls up to the curb in front of an airport. The front and rear passenger doors swing open. One boy grabs the suitcase off the ground and heads toward the airport door. Before he enters, he turns and waves one last time to his friends. He enters the airport and says goodbye to Vancouver.
