Synopsis/Details
Jenny, 30s, after losing her senior book editor job at a Boston publisher to her nemesis, Olivia, is forced to take holidays before resuming work under Olivia in the New Year in the literary area. The children’s book division that she worked under is being sold. She goes to her Cousin Brianne and Uncle Ronald’s house and lumberyard for Christmas. Here she meets Graham, a handsome toymaker who works in wood, and gets coerced into helping him with a large toy order. Jenny uses her production skills to help with co-ordinating workers, supplies and packaging. While also helping her cousin with the Christmas Eve road race, Jenny must thwart the romantic intentions of Alex, the lumberyard manager, who her cousin has a crush on. Alex has hated Graham since he worked at the lumberyard as a teen. Alex bullies Graham to stay away from Jenny with no result. As a substitute speaker at the library, Jenny is asked why she doesn’t write a children’s book. She has an aah moment. Jenny explores starting a business in the small town and freelance editing for a children’s book publisher where she interned. She has given up her co-dependency on her previous work. During the race, Alex stumbles and falls but Graham helps him up to win the race. Alex has a new respect for Graham. Jenny helps Graham be more outgoing and assertive as their love grows. Dreading to go back to work, Jenny seeks new independent plans for both her work and love life in Christmas Toymaker.
