The Mystery of the Missing Birdseed

‘The Mystery of the Missing Birdseed’ is the original pilot script for the half-hour children’s television series 'The Cat Holmes and Bunny Watson Mysteries’ whether live-action, puppets or animation. Mr. Sandhill commissions Cat Holmes and Bunny Watson, animal detectives to solve why birdseed has mysteriously disappeared from the birdfeeder before the regular birds have had their normal share. Laid-back, pompous, black and white male, Cat Holmes gets nose-twitching inquisitive brown cotton-tail bunny, Bunny Watson to eagerly investigate. First Bunny Watson investigates a common wren about the type of birdseed and finds a clue about the culprit. Cat Holmes must share his daybed with Bunny to hear this first development. At the birdbath, Bunny Watson interrogates a Bluejay about the sounds that the thief makes. Bunny Watson shares a chair with Cat Holmes to reveal another clue. Along Mr. Sandhill’s deck railing, Bunny Watson meets a cardinal who comments on the messy scoundrel. Lying on his home-based office desk, Cat Holmes is annoyed that Bunny Watson disturbs his thinking time. In Mr. Sandhill’s backroom, Bunny Watson learns when the thefts started and maybe why. The next early morning, Cat Holmes and Bunny Watson confront the robber. In a meeting with Mr. Sandhill, Cat Holmes and Bunny Watson come up with a solution for all the backyard creatures.
