Synopsis/Details
When an astronaut accidentally kills an alien child in a sandstorm, he finds himself imprisoned in a cell where he can almost constantly hear a recording of the child crying. He fears he will go mad, but the computerized warden has been programmed to take him to the very brink of his sanity and then stop. . . for a little while. He is even more shocked when his keeper tells him that, since he is now living on this alien planet and breathing its air, he will live to be over 200 years old - spending all of his extended lifespan in that cell, listening to that crying.
