Synopsis/Details
Retiring after thirty years as a dedicated employee of the U.S. government, Dennis Anderson wants more than a crappy gold watch and a handshake. A lot more. Anderson was in charge of the Chameleon File, a classified list of every participant's old and new identity in the Witness Relocation Program for the past forty years. Now Anderson is missing, and so is the Chameleon File. Backups were made for security purposes, but between Anderson accepting his gold watch and his subsequent disappearance, all of the duplicate files were bleached clean beyond recovery. Anderson intends to sell the contents of the file to both the New York Mob and the Russian Mafia, but when the transaction goes south, and Anderson is killed, the file winds up in the unsuspecting hands of theater major John Strickland. Narrowly escaping with his life and the flash drive containing the file, Strickland is relentlessly pursued by those wishing to kill him, the New York mobsters and their Russian counterparts, and by those wishing to save him, the Federal authorities and the local police. Before the day is over, whether Strickland lives or dies ultimately depends upon Strickland's ability to access the contents of the Chameleon File and an unexpected ally who was once one of the most feared men in the former Soviet Union.
