Synopsis/Details
All hell breaks loose when the devil decides to retire, and Kahuna and Shade, his two top demons, compete to fill the old man's shoes. Collected souls are like calories for the two competitors, and judging by their hefty appearance, it is clear that Kahuna and Shade are experts at packing on the pounds. Throughout history, the demonic duo has gone back and forth, trying to top one another in their harvesting of souls. Custer's Last Stand was Kahuna's baby. The sinking of the Titanic? Shade nailed that one. Now, with their boss about to hang up his pitchfork and their odds of getting the promotion statistically even, Kahuna offers to go topside for a bit of one-on-one to tip the contest in his favor. Key to Kahuna's success is Christopher Sharp, a one-hit-wonder singer-songwriter who has long yearned for another shot at stardom. It's a dream Kahuna is happy to fulfill, so long as Sharp signs on the dotted line. Posing as a genie in a lava lamp, Kahuna grants Sharp six wishes, bumped up from the usual three for inflation, and revives Sharp's sagging career in spectacular fashion. Unfortunately for Sharp, but perfect for Kahuna's plans, the double-edged content of Sharp's wishes inevitably brings civilization to the brink of destruction. When Kahuna hits a speed bump in his quest, however, Shade gets the green light to replace Kahuna and take control of Sharp's career, aiming for a smashing finale that will mean the end of the world. Ultimately, the climax hinges on Sharp's selfless final wish, a twist that not only thwarts Hamilton Shade but also paves the way for Kahuna's astonishing redemption and salvation.
