Synopsis/Details
Late one night, 6 year old Danny is sat on the sofa quietly watching cartoons on television. His father, Michael, catches him and asks what he's doing up so late. He assumes Danny can't sleep and asks if he's worried about tomorrow. Danny nods his head. Michael assures him there is nothing to be worried about. It won't be easy, but there are plenty of people around who will get him through it. He'll see lots of family members he hasn't seen in a long time and some of them may have even brought him present. He tells Danny to be brave, but whatever happens he'll always be proud of him. He offers to sit with Danny and watch one of his cartoons before going back to bed. Danny is delighted by this. Michael takes Danny to bed and tucks him in. He tells Danny to get some sleep so he's not causing his mother problems the next morning by lazing about in bed. Danny tells his Dad he loves him and Michael replies the same. Michael switches off the light and leaves, pulling the door closed behind him. The next morning Danny is sat on the sofa in a black suit and tie. His mother Julie stands at the door in a black dress. She asks if he's ready. He nods. Julie extends her hand and Danny takes it. Danny and Julie stand outside the front door of their house holding hands. They watch as a black car pulls up followed by a hearse. A funeral wreath in the back displays the word 'Daddy'. Danny takes a deep breath.
