IN WHAT WE TRUST ACT I Qadill married, an acutely religious - warehouse worker - seeking his creative endeavors in writing music, expounds on ways to live a successful and fun life. And with Kenard, his best friends mention of an entertainment school in Florida, it sound achievable. But Qadills lack of money, job declining, the Meeting Hall obligations and Crystal, his devoutly pious - fiancée's demands for a proper marriage, conflicts with his ideal wants and his unconcious desires. So when Qadill is laid off from the warehouse Kenard is the first on the scene to welcome him into the underworld. And after a successful job and night of distrust and infidelity with – the forbidden Jasmine – Kenard’s sister, Qadill unlatches himself from the Meeting Hall and his marriage and immerses his-self in the life of robbery and an affair. ACT II Qadill lives life in the underworld, committing robberies, and basking in the glory and spotlight. With his goal to soon enroll in Florida’s entertainment school, frustrations arouse Qadill as he wants to come clean to Kenard, and for Jasmine to leave Phill- her boyfriend and source of Qadill’s dirty income. But a robbery goes wrong when Phill overreacts and nearly kills someone. So Qadill speaks to Kenard about cutting Phill out of the equation and taking over for themselves. But at Qadill’s birthday party after discussing the next robbery with Kenard, and his sister's boyfriend, Qadill and his affair with Jasmine Kenard encounter. And when Phill learns he passive-aggressively lures Qadill into a trap where he confronts him at gunpoint. Qadill bewildered, love-sick, and dis-attached, sends repeated texts and calls and hasn’t heard from not only Jasmine but Kenard for several days. But Qadill witnessed what once was his faith - the meeting hall - on the news -being challenged by legal battles he returns to his life before. ACT III Qadill rekindles his relationship with Crystal and finds work with his ex-boss Mickey Shears. But when Kenard is robbed by Jasmine and Phill, Qadill and Kenard re-unite, despite the blatant affair, and agree that one last robbery will provide them with enough cash to end the criminal activity and enroll in the Florida school of entertainment. But the last robbery goes wrong, and they are arrested.
