THE POET AT TYBURN TELLS THE TALE of ISABELLA BLACK HEART (aloud to the crowd) It started, with the murder of her mother, Then her father by another. A conspiracy of highly gentile men. Then one doth take her prisoner, Abuse her and condition her, Feed her, just every now and then. Though Dick he came to save her. He loved her and he raised her. And brought love into her life once again. But holy thou art knowing, The evil that was growing, Inside her heart for gentile wealthy men. Dick did teach the young dark maiden, A life of crime bared laden, To her murdering and pillaging the east. Her childhood had been stolen, Then life was truly broken, By a noose, on which Dick’s life had sadly ceased. Thus Isabella Black Heart was born. The crowd cheers, the poet waits for hush, then raises his forefinger. POET (CONT’D) But!...The mark of Isabella, Was in the heart of every fella, When she relieved them of their riches and their horse. But in court the truth came to her, When the Lord Chief Justice heard her, And her story came to take its final course. She found her father’s slayer, Twas the Lord Chief, a chief player, And she slayed him with her mighty stolen sword. Judge Marley did regain Belle, And now he comes to slain Belle, At Tyburn where she’ll have her final word. Hath no one to forget, The dark maiden with regret, As she jumps out from the safety of the ox cart. The stories to be told, To young and by the old, The legend, of Isabella Black Heart. Belle,imprisoned,remembers her old life in a loving home with her parents. Highwaymen, Dick Turpin, and Toby Slater are lying in wait to rob Marley, his lawman employee, Garrett, and Marley's whore, Polly.Coach rushes by, they miss it. Marley realises he has had his fob watch stolen and demands Garrett to post wanted signs and find the culprits. With the help of his work associates, Riley, and Oliver question townsfolk, including a butcher, Turpin, (Dick's father). One night Belle gets a surprise visit from highwaymen, robbing the house. They rescue her and take her back to their cottage in Epping Forest, Essex. She has a flashback, her parents were shot dead by Marley's men, only seeing a pair of shoes, from under her bed, where she hid. She tells them the story. They retrieve a black heart pin cushion from her home. Belle is learning to shoot, and rob. Marley has a session with no other than Toby's sister, who happens to see a 'wanted' poster. She recognises her estranged brother, and tells Marley. The robbing trio wait on a mansion,to see who wins the most from gambling. Fanny, Toby's sister, is with Marley and Garrett. Quinn, a wealthy land owner, has 2 prostitutes on his arm. Drunk Garrett wakes with a woman, Edina next to him. It's Quinn's wife. She has bruises, and explains what Garrett fighting Quinn. Quinn leaves with winnings, gets robbed by the bandits, taking his horse. Belle attaches her heart to her saddle. Toby is determined to see Fanny. Edmund takes Belle to live in York. Garrett pursues Edina. On sleeping together, he finds she is wearing a stolen necklace from his late wife, who was killed in a robbery. her info tells him that stolen jewels had been bought in York by Quinn. Ed returns with Belle. They are approached by Garrett and Oliver. He recognises Ed. Oliver and Ed are shot dead. Belle escapes, broken hearted, loses her heart. She cuts a heart into her neck, fills with ink, and robs a coach as Isabella Black Heart. Toby and Dick are pursued by Slater and another, working for Garrett. Slater is surprised to find his son at Ed's cottage. Toby is wounded badly, and Slater minor. The bandits escape to Mary, Dicks ex wife, where she patches Toby up. Belle is lost and hateful, and sets out her plan for robbing and revenge as she hides out in the forest. Word gets about for her crimes as Isabella Black Heart and a reward. Garrett is seeing Edina in secret. Dick sees Fanny, and thinks he's swayed her into believing Isabella story, and plans to return when she has stolen Marley's work files on Isabella Black Heart. The meet falls foul, when Fanny is killed by accident, Riley is shot in the shoulder. Distraught Toby runs from the scene, splitting up from Dick. Toby returns to his childhood home, finding Belle there. They hug, and find they are in love. Dick leaves for York, alone and blaming himself for everything. Toby and Belle set up a new home in the woods, but find Dick will never return after news of his hanging.(followed to real life events). Toby tells the story of his abusive father killing his mother, and burying her on the land of his childhood home. They carry on robbing, whilst planning revenge/justice, and Belle stalks Garrett, meeting him secretly, and telling him the full story, but not revealing her face. He on one hand, wants her bounty to help Edina, but also wants to get justice for her and is torn. The rest..is history. You will have to read the script!
