
Synopsis/Details
Sixteen-year-old Carly sits in the cemetery and visits her sister Susie's grave and reminisces about the moments they had together before getting on a travel bus out of town. Sarah, Carly's mother, starts to report her missing but gets no help from the police. Now at a motel, Carly has enough money for one night but is offered a job to pay for the room and board as an employee.
Back home, Sarah passes out missing person fliers and is greeted by a police detective named Jay. Jay offers to help find Carly. After a long's day of work, Carly returns to her room and calls her friend back home. Hungry, Carly goes to a convenient store, but the store is robbed by robber and career criminal Chris. Chris kidnaps Carly and takes her away. Chris lets Carly go and offers her money. Refusing the money, Carly takes it anyways to ease Chris's mind.
While working at the motel, Carly gets a visit from Chris and is offered to tag along with him on a road trip. Carly declines but has a change of heart after the motel manager tries to assault her. Now on the run, Carly and Chris make it to a motel but Carly develops a persona of her sister, Susie. Carly leaves Chris and robs a store. Now having a fling, Sarah and Jay use the time to get to know each other. While Jay finds pills in Carly's room. Jay has them researched and learn that they were Susie's. Jay visits Susie's grave and finds a sandwich that Carly left. Now with a breakthrough, Jay finds out that the pills are for Schizophrenia. He announces this to Sarah, but Sarah tells him to leave.
Carly runs away with bikers and awakens the next morning to learn they are going to ditch her. Carly takes one of the biker's motorcycles and makes it to a gas station. Chris, now in arms distant tries to confront her but she blows the pumps up, nearly killing Chris. Jay pays him a visit and sees Chris is traumatized by Carly's actions. At her front door, Chris and Sarah make peace with each other. Jay bails Chris out of jail and Sarah tags along to go on a road trip to find Carly.
