SYNOPSIS
Australia 1933. Boyd a reclusive WW1 veteran, accepts a short-term job from Amy a widowed grazier. This is despite her stirring in him painful memories of his dead wife.
They soon learn a flock of her sheep has been violently butchered. Boyd agrees to help Amy, her daughter Nicki and her tracker Joshua bury the sheep. They are shocked by what they find, but assume it was done by wild dogs.
After the grisly work has been done, they discover Amy’s wealthy neighbour, Gaites, has trespassed onto her land with a hunting party. At first furious, Amy decides to join him on the hunt for the mysterious culprits. Concerned for Amy and Nicki’s safety, Boyd volunteers to accompany them.
The two groups follow a creek up into the densely forested mountains. On their way they make a number of strange and disturbing discoveries, leading them to realise their quarry is like nothing they have ever seen.
The realisation comes too late. Trapped, deep in the forest, they prepare to wait out the night, but the Yowies (Australia’s Bigfeet) attack, tearing apart Gaites’ hunters. Leaving only Boyd, Amy, Nicki and Joshua to fight for their lives as they try to escape to safety.
Weeks later, they are all back on the farm recovering from their ordeal, with Boyd now happy to be part of Amy and Nicki’s lives.
