Synopsis/Details
(aka "Turtlehead")
A peculiar little Romantic Dramedy that resembles something that the Coen Brothers, Tim Burton or Terry Gilliam might do with the subject.
(Sam's unusual deformity is a dome on the top of his head and, no, he doesn't fall in love with the amnesiac.)
“Sam Tuttle” is a contemporary tale of a quiet man who grew up with a heavy burden and who finally gets an opportunity to change his sad, lonely, weird life through the choices he makes when helping said young amnesiac. No Hanks/Ryan RomCom, this at times surrealistic love story show how you can find love right around the corner, instead of having it striking you like a bolt of lightning from afar. And, of course, it makes sense the climax is a heart-pounding chase through a train yard!
Interesting tidbit: Six biblical parables form selected portions of the story – but you might be hard-pressed to see them. The obvious one is the Good Samaritan; however, they are merely elements that I built the story around. Meanwhile, the young lady that Sam aids, “Angela”, is aptly named: She serves as Sam’s “Clarence” (It’s a Wonderful Life") or guardian angel, and helps him to come to the right decisions through the generosity he gives to her. A major theme is that it’s never too late to find love, even if it takes a strange route to get there.
