Synopsis/Details
His wife dying of cancer, a man meets a stranger who says he can cure her. Torn between his heart and his mind, the man agrees to give it a try. His wife slowly improves to the point where she is cured. The husband is surprised that there doesn't seem to be a catch to the stranger's pink pills - just the cure. The stranger reminds him that it is very important that his wife be given each pill at approximately the same time daily.
The wife becomes suspicious when she learns that the pink pill - which she assumed was prescribed by her doctor - wasn't. Her doctor says that it is probably some type of harmless herbal supplement her husband has put in with her meds. However, he says, it might be best if she stops taking it for a while so he can do some research to be certain it doesn't interfere with the other medications.
Unfortunately, without the pill, the woman relapses and quickly dies. The stranger visits her widower, unaware of why what happened happened. Falsely figuring his medicine was worthless, he decides to discontinue any more research - depriving the world of a cure.
