Christine Parker firmly believes in astrology. When her husband's, George, horoscope says that he should stay home, she tries to talk him out of going into town and running their errands. He lovingly chastises her for believing in such stuff, though he is slightly superstitious himself.
In town, he is grabbed by a man named Barona, who tells him that he is going to die at 12, and then dies in his arms. He learns from Helga, the owner of a tea room, that Barona was a very gifted seer. George tries to convince himself not to believe what he was told, but he can't get it out of his mind. In short order, he files a statement with the police, calls his wife to tell her he loves her, tries to get Helga to help him, and runs to a nearby church.
In the church, the hour strikes. He falls to the floor, his hands jammed over his ears. Nothing happens. Father Doyle, one of the priests, assures him that it is past noon. George happily finishes his errands.
Near his car, he is hit and killed by a truck. When the driver calls the police for an ambulance, they need to know what number Summer Street he is at, as it is a very long main drag through town. Helga steps forward to reveal that it is 12 Summer Street.
