Barracuda

Three and five-year-old brothers, DREGS and MILT are with their mother, MICHELLE at the ocean. The boys find a juvenile barracuda washed up on the beach. Dregs wants to kill the beached fish. Michelle intervenes and instructs them to return the fish to the water because it is not their place to decide what lives or dies. That evening Dregs and Milt witness the murder of their mother at the hands of police officer DARRELL DIVOC. Divoc is not caught, and her murder becomes a “cold-case.” Dregs and Milt are placed in the custody of their maternal uncle. Dregs isolates himself from Milt and Haynes and runs away to the ocean where he is attacked by a barracuda, which leaves him with significant scarring on his arm. Dregs becomes anti-social and is sent to juvenile detention for assaulting a police officer. In detention he attacks a guard and is given the name BARRACUDA. When Dregs is released at age 21, he reunites with his uncle and learns that Milt is now a cop. Dregs takes a job at a garage, painting cars. His co-worker, CHRIS gets Dregs involved in a drug deal gone bad and pulls Dregs into being his “muscle.” Chris is executed by a man named DURALDE who becomes Dregs’ boss. Dregs begins to execute and beat up a wide range of people. Dregs has barracudas tattooed down his arms and starts to be known as “Barracuda.” Chris introduces Dregs to SANDY, a beautiful woman with a significant scar on her face. Dregs is reluctant to get involved but does over time. Dregs and Sandy move in together, and Sandy gets pregnant. Sandy reveals that her ex-husband attacked her while she was pregnant with their child, and as a result the baby died, and her ex went to prison. Milt finds that her ex was recently released from prison. Duralde tracks him down and kills him. Dregs is a suspect in the murder and is visited by Darrell Divoc, now a detective. Dregs recognizes Divoc and plots with Milt how to exact their revenge for murdering their mother.
