Tight Line

Police officer MIKE CAVENDISH, late 30s, faces a grand-jury investigation for shooting a fellow police officer and a teenager. His mother just died and he is estranged from his wife STACY and their son, CORMAC. After his mother’s death Mike receives a letter from his dying father, a man that Mike never knew. Mike goes to see him but arrives just as his father’s body being removed by the county coroner. Mike returns home and meets with Lieutenant RATAN that informs him that Mike’s case is going to the Grand Jury. Mike is unsure he wants to continue being a cop. Ratan gives Mike forty-eight hours to decide. Mike goes to District Attorney MELISSA GREEN and runs into Chief NELLS, and KINGSTON, the main antagonist. Nells threatens Mike. Mike gives his badge to Nells and quits. Mike gives Melissa his body cam recorder with footage from the shooting leading to the grand jury investigation. Mike leaves, and Melissa watches the video showing Mike responding to a situation with his partner OFFICER RATAN, the KID that ended up being killed, and an unidentified male that appears on the scene before the footage is cut. KINGSTON murders Balant and Ratan, staging it to look like a murder suicide. Mike goes to the coroners and steals the bullets from their bodies and then steals the weapon Kingston used from Kingston’s house. Mike continues to try and work things out with Stacy and Cormac, but things are not looking good. Mike moves to his father’s house. Kingston threatens Stacy. Mike gets scared for them and tells Stacy to bring Cormac to his father’s. Kingston comes looking for Mike and the missing evidence. He finds Stacy and ties her up. DA Green sends internal affairs to locate Mike. The officer and Kingston engage in a shootout. Stacy is freed. Kingston goes after Mike, finding him fishing with the sheriff. Kingston kills the sheriff, Mike kills Kingston. Mike returns to see Melissa and informs her that the unidentified male in the footage is Cormac. Due to the circumstances, charges are dropped. Mike and Stacy reunite.
