Synopsis/Details
Being stuck in a mall on the busiest shopping day of the year; what could be worse? Royal Marine, Johnny Harker, is about to find out. BLACK FRIDAY is a festive horror-comedy that gives whole new meaning to the phrase ‘braving the sales.’ Marry SHAUN OF THE DEAD with FROM DUSK TIL DAWN, add some Christmas spirit and you have BLACK FRIDAY. Desperate to settle down and live a quiet family life, Johnny is blackmailed by his scheming girlfriend, Harriet, into the shopping trip of nightmares. If Johnny retrieves every item on her Christmas list in the Black Friday sales, he will prove he really is the man of Harriet’s dreams and she will give him what he so badly craves – marriage and children. Sucked in by Harriet’s false proposition, Johnny recruits his two best friends - unappreciated but intelligent school-teacher, Rupert, and ungrateful, teenage-minded George – to help carry out the operation. Making a tactical decision to go late in the evening, believing it will be “half dead”, Johnny is scarily accurate as he finds himself trapped inside the shopping mall with a horde of blood-thirsty vampires. With only the assistance of job-proud mall security guard, Pippa, Johnny, George and Rupert are forced to take on a new mission; survive the vampire onslaught. Using modified Christmas decorations as weapons, our heroes embark on a festive slay-ride. However, under the thumb Johnny is still hell-bent on carrying out his original orders. Will Johnny come to his senses and see Harriet for the horror she really is, or, will he sentence himself, and his friends, to a lifetime of service with the army of the undead?

The Writer: Shaun Needham

Full-time, disgruntled secondary school teacher; optioned screenwriter and semi-professional singer. My parents actively encouraged me to take part in as many different things as possible and take my opportunities. Without their influence, I would not have the creative passions and intuition that I have today. I have always loved stories but, for one reason or another, when it came to university choices I made the (with hindsight, incorrect) decision to pursue a career as a PE teacher and have now spent twelve years working in an inner-city school in Sheffield. Don't get me wrong, I love being able to help kids pursue their dreams and ambitions but, after about six years of it, I had an… Go to bio
