Paula Hunt, a 40-ish single, introverted woman, begins dictating a video blog because of something strange she's been noticing: Everyday things are disappearing, and no one but her seems to remember they ever existed. First, apples are gone from her grocery store, where she's purchased them for years. Then Mrs. Summers' dog, Boscoe, is gone, and Mrs. Summers never remembers having a dog or what a dog even is!
Alone at home one night, a man appears in her apartment. With His white beard and robe, He says He's God. At first, Paula, of course, doubts Him, but then He mentions the missing apples and dogs. He says He's taken them from Earth for a new planet, Argonzi, which He needs to make in a hurry. God asks Paula's advice on what else humanity wouldn't miss that He could move to Argonzi. After suggesting Brussels sprouts, snakes, and Lady Gaga, God asks her to think seriously about it. He'll be back.
When God returns, Paula suggests herself - since she would never be missed on Earth. God agrees that she will be the planet Argonzi's Eve.
