Toiling on his family’s farm, EMIL, a physically disabled peasant teen disobeys his father’s guidance to be content with a farmer’s life. He picks fights with KENRIC, the village lord’s son and a squire, to prove himself capable of more. In the aftermath of a brutal war between kingdoms, a monster awakens and begins terrorizing the village and butchering locals. Emil’s home is attacked by a GOBLIN, vile and lecherous, who wounds Emil’s father. Hindered by his disability, Emil fails to protect his mother who is abducted by the Goblin.
Feeling the weight of his failure, Emil stays behind with Kenric to get his family to the safety of the village as disgraced knight and sell sword, WYMOND, tracks down the Goblin. On their way to the village Emil and Kenric find PIERS, a neighboring farmer, gravely wounded on the road. Emil races to Pier’s farm and discovers it’s been attacked and MARIBEL, love of his life, was taken. Emil sets off to save Maribel and his mother. Kenric, too afraid, escorts the wounded back to the village. Wymond and Emil discover the Goblin den where its brood holds several women captive. Overwhelmed by their numbers Wymond sacrifices himself so Emil can get Mirabel and his mother to safety. While escaping, the Goblins catch up to them. Mirabel and Grace are dragged back to the bowels of the den as the tunnel collapses blocking Emil from rescuing them.
Defeated, Emil wanders the forest looking for another way into the den. Kenric finds Emil, and together they make their way back into the Goblin’s den. Mirabel searches for an exit alone, after Emil’s mother died protecting her. Emil and Kenric find Mirabel then make their way out of the den fighting off goblins as they go. Reaching the surface, the Goblin leader wounds Kenric and Mirabel. Emil faces off against the monster in a sword fight to the death. Emil’s tenacious will wears the Goblin down and he delivers the killing blow before succumbing to his wounds. Emil wakes back in the village where Kenric has relayed the events in the Goblin den to his lord father. Emil, with a newfound sense of pride and self-worth, accepts Kenric’s offer of friendship and rivalry and admits his own feelings to Mirabel with a kiss.
