Synopsis/Details:

Sam Toomes and his family are living the middle-class dream, until it is devastated by the reckless act of a drug lord's son.

When the local, corrupt police do not act, Sam prepares to wreak justice. But he is untrained for such a task and restrained by his civility.

Then a stranger arrives - one with his own interest in the gangsters. As events hurtle toward an explosive yet strangely moral (and biblical) conclusion, should Sam intervene? Or should he stand by or even help the stranger - and lose his soul in the process?

You may be surprised to know that for this story I drew influences from films as varied as "Shane" and "The Virgin Spring".

But it was mostly my response to "Taken". That's why I write some stories: As a reaction to other films. I enjoyed "Taken", but I'm amazed how stupid the bad guys can be in these movies - they hurt somebody's kid or spouse, and that somebody turns out to be an ex-CIA or ex-Green Beret. You'd think the villains would do their research first!

The Writer: Steve Garry

I wrote my first screenplay in 2008: A "fan fiction" sequel to my favorite film that served as a release of my pent-up wishes and hopes for what might have "happened next". This sudden writing outburst was a surprise, yet it was predicable too, for composition was my favorite subject in my earliest years of elementary school. But somewhere between then and now, I must have felt that writing wasn't a serious or possibly an attainable career. My writing methodology for my early fan fiction, and all of my original stories since, is unique because I use many of the same skills I used for decades as a software programmer. The stories must be both "logical" and "bug free". Oh, and hopefully... Go to bio
