Synopsis/Details
A young pregnant woman runs across a bridge. She has large letters written in sharpie from the top of her arm down to her wrist: “RUN AWAY WITH ME.” She frantically rips off her wig and chucks it into the river. Pulls her dress over her head and gets rid of the fake pregnancy bump. This is EMMA. It’s her 27th birthday and she’s being chased by a motorcycle rider with a gun. The story is about the two weeks leading up to this day. Emma loses her job, her band, all of her US papers, and the guy she loves. Broke and homeless, she finds an under-the-table job at Pizza Cantina and makes friends with cashier ROMEO (mid-20s). Owner MITCHELL (30s) is in trouble with a loan shark and his family. After finding a missing key, Emma realizes her only way out of her situation is to help Mitchell and Romeo attempt to recover the contents of Mitchell’s dead father’s secret bank safe deposit box. Emma must find a way to escape the aftermath and overcome her past in order to win back the guy she loves and get out of Canada. LOST IN TORONTO is a character-driven love story about what happens when you have no way out – because when you can’t stay and you can’t go…you make the perfect criminal.
