Synopsis/Details
Nick Shelby is a private detective who is struggling to get over his ex-fiancee, Louise, who left him without reason. Since then he’s been knocking back the drink and getting whatever sleazy PI work he can, which mostly consists of snapping photos of cheating partners or tracking down runaway daughters.
He is contacted by Louise’s sister, Stephanie and invited to the family home. When he arrives he finds Louise’s mother in tears. Stephanie shows him a newspaper from Mexico containing a photograph of Louise with a headline stating Louise’s body has been found and it is a suspected murder.
Nick can’t believe what he’s seeing. As he scans the article he finds that the name of the victim is incorrect. Stephanie points out they identified her from a passport they found, but it was a false name. Stephanie tells Nick the local police are no help and she wants him to investigate Louise’s death. Why was she in Mexico with a fake passport and who killed her?
Nick is reluctant to look into it at first, but with a chance to find out why Louise left him he heads to Mexico to investigate.
