Synopsis/Details
PAUL, has set out to prove exactly how stupid men can get. He just doesn’t know it. He and GWEN are a modern American couple who, despite their child together, have no intentions to get married. Their’s is a relationship built on love, trust and family. It’s not until Gwen’s music managing career begins to take shape, putting her together with a record label executive, ERIC, that Paul begins to doubt her faithfulness. Egged on by his friend, Paul disguises himself in an attempt to spy on Gwen at work. When his cover is nearly blown, he quickly invents a new identity, and puts the moves on her. Gwen sees through the costume immediately but decides to play along, accepting his offer of a romantic date. Fearing this is a sign she has no issue cheating on him, Paul decides to see how far she’ll go with the fictional character he’s created. As weeks progress, both continue thinking the other will crack first, giving this pretend romance a life of its own. Under the guise of his alter ego, Paul meets her family, and his own, before worrying the damage to his relationship may be irreversible. However his plan to tell her the truth with a “big reveal” is ruined when Gwen kisses his false persona, delaying the truth until he’s again worked up the courage. Learning Paul’s secret comes as no surprise to Gwen, a reaction which leads them into an argument that ends in separation. In order to apologize, Paul puts Gwen’s big career opportunity in jeopardy, doing more harm than good to their relationship. To make things right, Paul takes another approach to his apology, under the guise of his alter ego and, with a lesson learned, is able to say he’s sorry.
