Synopsis/Details
This story mostly takes place on a stony beach, features a diverse cast (mixed-race mother and daughter, white grandfather) and explores themes of childhood innocence, forgiveness and redemption. Though it includes a subtle undercurrent of the challenges with race relations, the story isn’t ham-fisted about it, rather centering on the dynamics within the singular family. I’ve also balanced the heavy dramatic nature of the narrative with plenty of light humor throughout. Finally, the delights of collecting seaglass is one that I haven’t seen explored in film before, so I consider this to be a very unique aspect of the script.
