Synopsis/Details
Automatic vehicles are quickly becoming reality. So the idea of a super smart, fully-automated, corporate controlled highway is not such a far-fetched one these days. Automatic drive follows one family on a road trip on such a highway. The unexpected happens, their vehicle loses power, causing them to crash. Accidents still do happen but are a rarity and gridlocks can still occur. Luckily, an automatic recovery service is setup to help clear minor incidents quickly and efficiently. To all the occupants in the surrounding vehicles viewing the scene from their monitors, the accident does appear minor, so they are happy to vote for the automatic option. However, unknown to them, the accident is a critical one. One passenger is dead, another is severely injured and needs urgent medical attention. Moving them under these circumstances would prove fatal. Automatic Drive examines how far a corporation may go to protect profits and to keep such a highway running as smoothly as possible, no matter what. It's no doubt this script would need to pretty decent CG and green screen FX to pull off, but if anyone is looking for a topically relevant, high-concept script, this is it.
