Surviving in a bleak world, a young man must seek shelter by 5:30 PM every day to avoid mysterious entities which seem to be searching for him. A mishap results in him being stuck out in the open at the worst possible time.
The Outcasts is a drama about a young man lost in a bleak world. We see the world through his eyes as he wanders a near deserted city, grabbing food and supplies where he can. The only other people he encounters are fellow Outcasts like himself – masked strangers who are just trying to survive.
Each day he must seek shelter by 5:30 pm and hide from a pair of mysterious entities who seem to be searching for him. Then one spring day, he forgets about the clocks going forward and finds himself out in the open at the worst possible time.
At the end we realize we really have been seeing things as he visualizes it and nothing is as it seems. He's run away from home due to an abusive step-father. In his eyes, the world is pretty much empty apart other outcasts from society who live on the streets. He knows his mother comes looking for him every day after work and he yearns for her, but his fear of his step-father makes him hide.
Locations wise this needs a park, a shop, a house with an attic and some shooting in the streets is required. The main character is the young lad, there's also the mother and some extras, most of which will need to be dressed up to look like post-apocalyptic survivors at first but at the end be revealed as folk who live on the street.

About The Writer
Mark has been escaping into his own personal version of reality he calls his Mindverse since he was a youngling. Despite the drool, his scripts and short stories have reached semi-finals and finals of several film festivals and competitions, he even won a Top Pick award in the Reel Writers Competition last year. Not content with writing, sometimes he pops on a producer's hat and breathes cinematic life into his creations. His latest film called Surrender, which he wrote and produced, was released in September. Since then it has been in two... Go to bio
