Synopsis/Details
*******NOTE: This is a proof-of-concept short for an episodic series.*********
Stanley Crumpler lives a quiet life. Or, at least, he did. Today, he's been guilted into adopting a mouthy goldfish named Albert, and neither of their lives will ever be the same. While Stanley is all about rules and routine, Albert is all about chaos. You might say one likes to live small, while the other likes to live large. And, really, that's what this series is all about: Stanley fighting not to be seen, Albert begging the world to notice him.
It's this dynamic (and the lessons that each teach the other) that drives each episode (and the main story arc) forward.
I've worked on this project for several years in between other projects, testing different versions of the story and style--looking for just the right way to present these characters.
I have a complete five-season show bible and other support materials that can be adapted to suit specific presentations. I also have a full pilot episode.
I'm looking for the right partner (a producer/director) to help me bring the project to life. BAD FISH is a unique story, set in a unique world that will require unique filming techniques. It's not a project for just anyone. It will require a comedic-centric team with heart--a group of people looking to take a big chance on something completely different. Basically, a team that wants to live large.
What makes it so unique? Well...one of our main characters is a goldfish. And, he can talk--though the audience can't hear him. He can also drive. In short, he can move through the world like any human--though we never actually show him do so. We only show the consequences of his movements and speech. (You'll see what I mean if you read the script.)
This project is a risk. It will either work, or it won't. But, if it does...oh, the fun that we'll have.
Again...I'd like to emphasize: this is a POC short, written to be produced as a sales piece for the larger project. It was written to stand alone...but, it's really not intended for that use. Its purpose is to introduce the main characters (and a few side characters) and give a small taste of the world and the setup. It's also intended to help show how the team will film Albert.
All that in mind, if you're up for jumping off a ledge with me, I'd love to talk vision.
Best,
Paul
