Between: Pilot -- "Gambrial's Break"

BETWEEN is written for a Quibi-like distribution. It's a 10 episode fantasy/drama series that takes place between two worlds: real and fantasy. Dr. Gambrial is a retired literature professor, living alone in his retirement community apartment. But, he's also Gambrial, the aging wizard with diminishing magical powers. Dr. Gambrial has lived a magical life, but it hasn't been without its tragedy. Mostly estranged from his son and having lost his young granddaughter to cancer, he's now faced with another impending loss. His wife lives in the nursing home wing of the retirement community, and she doesn't have long to live. The news is devastating to Dr. Gambrial (though, audiences won't learn of the it until later in the series), and it's spurred him to action. He needs to rediscover his full magical powers -- or, more importantly, reignite them within his son. To do that, he'll cross to the fantasy world and, as Gambrial, take on a quest to save the Girl Princess. But, is any of the fantasy world real? Or, has Dr. Gambrial simply broken with reality as he tries to cope? BETWEEN is a story of loss. It's a story of forgiveness, and fighting for family.
