Synopsis/Details
In a fractured America teetering on the edge of collapse, Marcus, a rigid, conservative Latino firefighter, has spent years preparing for the inevitable disaster. As civil unrest explodes into chaos, he locks his family inside their home, believing isolation and his stockpiled supplies will be their salvation. But the true danger isn’t outside — it’s already inside. Ashley, his younger wife, suffocated by years of Marcus's oppressive control, has been quietly poisoning him; a slow-burning rebellion against the life she’s desperate to escape. Their 17-year-old son, Walter, a fiery, idealistic teenager, challenges his father at every turn. He’s convinced that blind compliance with the government is the only way to survive, and he’s willing to tear his family apart to prove it. Their 19-year-old daughter, Cherish, the model "daddy’s girl," has a dangerous secret. She secretly sneaks supplies — food, clothing, blankets — to her boyfriend, Eden, who’s stranded outside, caught in the crossfire of the turmoil. As the world outside burns, the pressure inside their home reaches a boiling point. The walls close in, suffocating the family as years of resentment and deep-seated anger threaten to tear them apart. Marcus’s iron grip on the household begins to slip, but he tightens his hold, demanding absolute control. The house becomes a pressure cooker filled with deception, mistrust, and the ever-present threat of losing control. And when Cherish finally lets Eden inside, she forgets to lock the door. That’s when everything goes to hell. Marauders and desperate neighbors, once turned away by Marcus, storm the house! Chaos erupts, secrets are revealed, and years of resentment finally come to a head. Ashley, once meek and passive, fights like a wild animal for her freedom. Walter, caught in his own misguided arrogance, realizes too late the true cost of his compliance. Cherish, in a desperate act of defiance, breaks free from her father’s suffocating control, choosing to act on her own terms as the world collapses around her. And Marcus, in a final moment of clarity, understands the futility of his fight and the weight of his control.
