Synopsis/Details
"Decomposition" delves into the twisted psyche of Cameron, a gaunt man in his early twenties, whose perception of love has been irrevocably poisoned by a seven-year relationship with an unfaithful "soulmate." He believes love is a parasite, feeding on the soul until only an empty husk remains. His body is a disturbing tapestry of fresh cuts and old scars, each representing an affair, an STD, or a physical altercation from his past. The story unfolds within the confines of his reeking, neglected house, a physical manifestation of his decaying mental state. The walls are stained with dark, viscous marks, and empty whiskey bottles litter the floor, reflecting his descent into alcoholism and madness. The Woman, his former lover, is the catalyst for Cameron's horrific actions. Though her body is mutilated beyond recognition, her smiling face, preserved in tattered pictures, haunts his hallway, a constant reminder of his obsession and "relapse purposes." She is the embodiment of the "poison" that infected him, leading him to believe she drained his soul. The narrative is driven by Cameron's chilling internal monologue, revealing his distorted philosophy on love, sex, and the human body. He sees sex as "bullshit" if it doesn't involve true appreciation of "flesh" and believes women only love a man's physical form, not his entirety.
