Synopsis/Details
"Detached" delves into the fractured mind of Cristi, a young woman whose seemingly innocent desire for a wholesome life masks a deeply disturbing obsession with her free-spirited twin sister, Mysti. The narrative begins with Mysti, a Goth-styled individual, contemplating suicide, only to pour her pills down the drain, a fleeting moment of relief before confronting Cristi. Their conversation reveals Cristi's frustration with her single status, subtly blaming Mysti for sabotaging her relationships. Mysti, in turn, dismisses Cristi's "good girl" facade. The middle of the story takes a dark turn as the sisters enter a "room of memories," a perpetually dim, foul-smelling space where the decomposed bodies of Mysti and her boyfriend are revealed. This chilling scene exposes Cristi's delusion: she believes she has "protected" Mysti from her boyfriend, who she saw as a threat to their bond. The climax and end of the story reveal the devastating truth. Eight months later, Cristi is in a psychiatric ward, diagnosed with schizophrenia, repeating her mantra: "Nothing and no one will ever take you away from me." Doctors confirm she murdered Mysti and her boyfriend, believing Mysti was pregnant by a demon and that she needed to "save her sister's soul." The film concludes with Cristi's terrifying charge at the reinforced glass, a sinister smile on her bloodied face, solidifying her unshakeable delusion.
