Synopsis/Details
Destined to die before his 30th birthday, Sebastian, a young man born to immense wealth, turns to the occult to thwart his rare genetic disease. He invites a small group of rich college kids for a Halloween themed weekend getaway. Sebastian’s over the top bashes are legendary - at the last one, rapper Pitbull performed. This latest event features a seance and a competition inside a spooky funhouse reassembled in a warehouse belonging to Sebastian’s father. What the youngsters don’t know is that they have been lured to play a part in a Satanic ritual - signing away their souls in what appears to be harmless Halloween hijinks. To help execute his diabolical scheme, Sebastian has enlisted his unsuspecting girlfriend Katrina. She and Sebastian met at college, but unlike Sebastian, Katrina comes from hardscrabble roots, which she is at pains to conceal from the super-rich undergrads at school. The shame she feels for her lineage is something Katrina will come to terms with before the weekend is over.
During the seance a conjured demon inhabits (and eventually takes control of) Sebastian. Then it’s on to the funhouse. But instead of fun, the kids are forced to confront their most dreaded phobias. Inside the funhouse’s various chambers they are subjected to everything from ravenous rats and killer cockroaches to homicidal clowns, marauding zombies, and a twisted surgeon who collects live brains assisted by an apeman sidekick. Sebastian shields Katrina from the bloodshed and even chooses the occasion to propose marriage. But Katrina rejects him and joins the rich kids in their ordeal navigating the funhouse’s twilight zone obstacle course.
Sebastian’s father, who had to go through the same rite when he was a young man, shows up unexpectedly to inform Sebastian that Katrina must be sacrificed if the ritual is to be successful. An altar on the roof has been set up for that purpose by Sebastian’s mentor, a mad monk named Gorko.
In a second seance Katrina receives visions from her deceased Gypsy grandmother and learns that the ancient book of incantations protected by Gorko must be destroyed in order to save the souls of the kid’s slaughtered friends, as well as their own. They will need to find their way out of the funhouse labyrinth and do battle with a demon if they are to triumph.
