Synopsis/Details
Eric "Effortlessly" Reigns prepares for his breakthrough performance, a 23-year-old rapper who has clawed his way to stardom. In his dressing room, he's confronted by the voice of Denzel, his former best friend whom he had murdered to steal his lyrics and girlfriend. The voice taunts him about his fake lifestyle and demands recognition. As Effortlessly takes the stage before a sold-out arena, Denzel's voice grows more insistent, demanding a shout-out. When Effortlessly refuses and tells the voice to "fuck off," something supernatural occurs. Instead of performing his hit song, he inexplicably confesses to the murder, revealing how he set up Denzel, stole his music catalog, and took his girlfriend Felicia. The confession leads to an immediate arrest as the crowd turns hostile. In jail, tormented by Denzel's relentless voice, Effortlessly attempts to write an apology song but fails. Driven to madness, he drives pencils into his ears to silence the voice, killing himself in the process. His final written words are an apology to his murdered friend.
