Synopsis/Details
During the final months leading up to the Japanese surrender, vicious Kamikaze raids wreak havoc on American destroyers in The Pacific.
CHARLIE BOON and his carrier-borne squadron are tasked with protecting a flotilla headed for Australia. Having lost a brother in the attack on Pearl Harbour, and gone the entire war without a confirmed kill to his name, Charlie is determined to exact revenge on the Japanese Airforce and fears this may be his last chance.
Thousands of miles away, HIROSHI NAKAMURA, a once decorated combat pilot turned reluctant kamikaze is informed by his superiors that should he return to from the next sortie, he will be executed for cowardice.
When Hiroshi's squadron attacks the flotilla Charlie is tasked with protecting, the two pilots clash high above the Pacific ocean. Determined to return home with a kill under his belt, Charlie ignores his fuel gauge and chases Hiroshi well beyond the safety of their carriers.
Charlie crash lands, unaware that on the other side of the island, Hiroshi has done the same. That evening, they find each other, and the fight which began in the air continues on the ground. Both completely exhausted and injured, neither is able to finish the other off.
The next morning, their new reality sets in - with no ships belonging to either army in sight, help will not be coming anytime soon. The pair will be forced to combine their resources and set aside their differences if they have any hope of surviving long enough to be found.
That will be no easy task. Charlie sees Hiroshi as directly responsible for the death of his brother, and Hiroshi does not seem to want to get off the island at all. With a language barrier to cross, food running low, and the jungle closing in, their chances of survival grow slimmer by the day.
It will take every ounce of strength, ingenuity and cooperation if either hope to make it home to their families.
