Synopsis/Details
The film opens in an empty church where DONNA (early 20s) approaches her best friend's casket carrying a gift bag with three white roses. What begins as a private moment of grief transforms into a powerful confession as Donna reveals the dark truth about her friend BRITTANY's death. Through Donna's intimate monologue, we learn that Brittany was trapped in a horrifically abusive relationship. The boyfriend, initially charming, revealed his true nature by raping Brittany on her birthday - her first sexual experience. Despite Donna's attempts to help her report the crime, no one believed Brittany due to her history of childhood sexual abuse. The abuse escalated systematically: physical violence, forced participation in sexual acts with other women, complete isolation from friends including Donna, and psychological manipulation. Brittany suffered a miscarriage due to continued abuse while pregnant, contracted herpes, and became completely dependent on her abuser. Donna reveals her own torment - watching helplessly as her best friend was consumed by a predator who deliberately destroyed their friendship to maintain control. She places symbolic items on the casket: Brittany's diary (revealing childhood abuse), a torn photograph, and bloodstained underwear from the rape. The emotional peak comes when Donna places three roses on the casket - one for the lost baby, one for the herpes infection, and one representing her eternal love for her friend. She expresses both her undying love and her anguish at being unable to save Brittany.
