Synopsis/Details
Anna wakes up in a decrepit and putrid prison cell. There is only one rusted steel door with a small peephole and a security camera. Screams and moans of pain and desperation can be heard in the distance. She remembers being arrested by the Regime for rebelling, refusing to comply with numerous oppressive rules and laws in a fascist atmosphere. Trials are a luxury few can afford and, once imprisoned, the only hope is to survive long enough or confess. Deprived of all rights and treated as just a number, she is subjected to interrogations, psychological and physical torture, in the hope that she will reveal the names of her comrades. But Anna resists. Deprivation, pain, and isolation do not break her will to rebel. During her imprisonment, she discovers signs left by other detainees: arrows carved into the walls, seemingly insignificant details that turn out to be part of a secret communication code among prisoners. Through a hidden hole in the wall, she connects with Rose, a woman imprisoned for violating the regime's reproduction laws, and a mysterious man, detained for loving a woman of a forbidden ethnicity. Sharing their despair, the three begin exchanging information and fragments of humanity, nurturing a fragile hope. As the regime intensifies the torture, Anna clings to her last refuge: her mind. She recites poetry, remembers forbidden words, and turns her resistance into an act of defiance. She takes solace in the one thought of love that dwells in her heart: her sweet Amethyste. Even when the pain seems unbearable, her spirit remains unbroken. As the days pass, the violence escalates, and Anna is repeatedly pushed to the brink of endurance. Her captors try to break her, stripping her of all dignity and subjecting her to unimaginable suffering. But her determination never wavers. The regime seeks to make her a symbol of rebellion's failure, but instead, Anna becomes an icon of resistance. Her body may be broken, but her voice can no longer be silenced, and perhaps, against all odds, she has managed to plant a seed of doubt where she least expected.
