Synopsis/Details
Bryan Wild, a famous football champion, is rich and wealthy. After winning the championship and after the press conference in which he announces his retirement, he and his pregnant wife have a terrible accident, leaving him as the sole survivor. After what feels like an eternity to him, he decides to move away from everyone: friends, the press, sponsors, and all the rest. His arrival near a small town, is met with disapproval from its citizens, but he simply wants to be left alone, venturing to the grocery shop only when necessary. In particular, four poachers view him as unwelcome, believing he harbors a secret. Only Sheriff Enneval recognizes him and is excited to have such a champion in the town he oversees. When Joe, an old farmer, reports that something resembling a wolf killed a couple of his pigs, the deputy informs him that wolves were never present in the region. Meanwhile, Bryan discovers a trap in the forest containing a wolf in poor condition. He decides to rescue and nurse it back to health. The next morning, the wolf is gone. Back in town, the poachers plan to confront Bryan, convinced that their challenging job is due to him. Disguised, they attack Bryan, outnumbering him. Despite his champion status, he is overwhelmed, knocked unconscious by a blow from a baseball bat. Unbeknownst to them, a naturalistic photographer hidden in the woods captures the incident. After the poachers leave, she rushes to Bryan's aid. Her name is Navra. She tends to Bryan's injuries and a special connection begins to form between them. Navra, who lives in a tent in the forest, seeks refuge with Bryan, after the poachers destroy her camp with fire. Bryan retaliates by confronting the poachers at the local pub, assaulting one and warning the others to leave Navra and him alone. Passion ignites between Bryan and Navra. As violent incidents plague the small town nightly, suspicion falls on Bryan, particularly after the death of Joe, the old farmer who set traps in the woods. Three of the poachers are found dead, bearing wounds consistent with a ferocious animal attack. The eccentric village elder appears to understand what is unfolding, but his warnings go unheeded. Jeff, the last surviving poacher, resolves to eliminate Bryan once and for all. In an epic fight, Jeff takes advantage of the situation and drags Navra outside the cottage, using her as a human shield when Bryan grabs the bow. However, Navra is not harmless. She is the real werewolf. Navra transforms and kills Jeff. At that moment, the sheriff arrives and sees what has happened, preparing to shoot the wolf. Bryan, heavily wounded, decides to kill the sheriff with his arrow. Navra, who is now in her wolf form, seeing Bryna dying, bites him, granting him freedom from his pain. In the final scene, after the credits, two wolves run among the trees in the forest.
