Scorpions

A huge earthquake has ravaged the high-tech underground laboratories of Defence eXperiments, Inc. DR EMMA MORGAN and a few of her technicians are trying to bring systems back online when a video call from another technician tells her "the cages have been breached". Something yanks the technician out of sight and blood splashes the camera lens as Emma and the others look on in fear. In Maine, our dramatic introduction to GLENN WOLF and his team of mercenaries comes as they assault a mansion: fanatics have taken the Vice-President hostage and in a slick and deadly, swift and silent operation Wolf's team move in and execute all the terrorists. As dawn breaks, Wolf's intermediary, TORRANCE, hires the team to rescue Emma before any rival firms can get their hands on her or her data. Against his better judgement, Wolf accepts. The team arrive and park in an underground car park. Emma reveals her scorpions are loose in the complex: ten-feet long, fast, powerful and armoured, they sound a formidable threat. Wolf sends a couple of his team to make sure the path to their van is still clear, and heads downstairs with his girlfriend, KRISTEN, to try and stabilise the failing power and to acquire better weapons from the armoury. The trip through the dark and ominous damaged corridors is scary and tense. In the armoury Wolf comes face-to-face with one of the scorpions and finds his pistol is indeed nearly useless against it. He and Kristen flee and manage to escape from the beast by the skin of their teeth. It's apparent now that Torrence lied to them - they aren't a rescue team, they're a field test for the new bioweapon. With the power failing and ammunition in rapidly dwindling supply, Wolf must try and lead everyone to safety, a terror-filled, claustrophobic and bloody struggle that eventually means heading deeper into the infested heart of the structure...
