Synopsis/Details
The near future: with crime spiralling out of control the government introduces Zero Tolerance Day: for twenty-four hours, all confirmed offences or crimes, no matter how trivial, carry an instant death penalty.
As the most dangerous day of the year dawns, ambitious journalist Ashleigh Page is onto the story of her life, implicating the mayor in fraud and embezzlement. Z.T.D. might just give her the leverage she needs to convince the mayor to co-operate with her, but a previous story accusing the police of using Z.T.D. to execute criminals they could not otherwise touch has not made her very popular, and unfortunately for her the story is true…and the police death squads are overseen by the mayor.
Officer McPherson is a victim of Ashleigh’s previous story, hung out to dry and demoted when her story fell through. Pulled back on duty due to staff shortages he is paired with gruff Officer Garrison, who has been part of a death squad on previous years and is no fan of McPherson’s.
Mark Jensen is touring the city with a hit list of his own, executing targets with seemingly no regard for the day’s lethal consequences.
As the day progresses, the various parties will cross paths and discover their individual stories are dangerously interwoven. On a day when people can be shot with few, if any, questions being asked, who will be alive to see the Sun go down?
