Synopsis/Details
Skullduggery is a half-hour fantasy comedy in the lighthearted spirit of Galavant or The Princess Bride, but with an overarching quest more akin to The Lord of the Rings.
We follow a lowly squire, AYMON (20s), who, with no other prospects, agrees to squire for LADY EMELYN, a brash and arrogant knight. Emelyn has sworn an Oath to protect the Kingdom from a new, terrible threat. The Great Serpent Queen, GORGANNA, has risen from the depths of the world, and now monsters are pouring out of the western lands, monsters that threaten the very livelihood of the citizens of the Kingdom. Emelyn was bequeathed an Excalibur-like sword that was forged for one purpose: to slay Caorthannach. Lady Emelyn and Aymon embark on their quest.
Unfortunately for Aymon, Emelyn dies on their first night out, choking on a peanut at the first inn they stop at. Aymon would love to give up the quest and just go home, but he also swore an Oath and a magic Oath is a serious thing. No matter how hard he tries, the sword keeps coming back to him; he can't destroy it, sell it, or give it away. Worse, every monster can sense the sword's presence like a shark to blood, and they are all honing in on Aymon. The only way to protect Caorthannach is to kill the swordbearer, in this case, Aymon. These monsters take many forms, all different shapes and sizes, with one thing in common: a radar pinged on Aymon.
His only choice is to complete the quest he unknowingly swore to complete when he signed on to be Emelyn's squire. So he embarks on a fool's mission, this unlikeliest of heroes. Along the way, he'll have a constant companion in the form of Emelyn's ghost, her spirit still tethered to the sword and a constant source of nettling irritation for Aymon. Emelyn doesn't believe Aymon is up to the task, and sadly, neither does Aymon. Can this lowly squire go from zero to hero, dud to stud, and save the Kingdom? It's a show about the little man rising up to do the right thing, whether he likes it or not, even if it kills him.
