Synopsis/Details
SWEETIE is the unfair story of Ryan Hill, a small likeable boy who lives carefree and happy in a sunny small town with his parents Nate and Hannah. His best friend Ashley lives in the house next door and the two baseball fans have been inseparable for years. Ryan is a fabulous, bright, polite, sweet 10-year-old who begins to change a lot for the new school year.
After minor conflicts with Ryan's baseball team classmates and strange coincidences, Ashley's parents address not only the visible change, but also the striking and unacceptable behavior of their daughter's best friend with Nate and Hannah. The inappropriate touching and abusive words make Ryan's parents wonder. He´s getting to the age where a lot of things change. But their little sweetie begins to take on features and ways that will not only cost Ryan's teacher and his principal their lives, but send a shiver down the entire small town's spine and slaughter running through the well-kept small town streets.
Perfect summer ending turns into multiple, psychotic murder and painful consequences are borne, but not by Ryan at all. The change he feels, sees, at night in nightmares and visions that overtake him; emotions and that sense of power, that vengeance, that lust for murder, that´s not him.
Over and over, Ryan tries to make it clear not only to his beloved parents, but to Ashley, the doctors, and his warm-hearted grandmother that he didn't do it. Did not and never would.
Ryan's cruel acts, started by a sweet sundae in a diner where the world is still good, make him slip more and more into the background of his self. Giving more and more dark space and free awareness to a whole other side of his personality.
Joyce also worked in a diner. For years she served friendly unfriendly customers and let it all wash over her. Not only did her violent childhood and dysfunctional relationship with her parents cause Joyce to do her deeds, but at one point her brutal husband and raped pregnancy led Joyce to fall back into old teenage patterns and, after her parents, kill her husband; followed by the murder of her own newborn. Joyce lived a life of revenge, hatred and the desire for love and security. She left her mark and marked her victims until she died in prison.
Now she´s back. Has managed to awaken in Ryan's consciousness and can only agree with the little one: "Ryan can't help it, he didn't do it!".
