The Encroacher

JULIA POLLIN, in her 40s have obsessive compulsive disorder, is a lifestyle blogger, a control freak who loves to see everything perfect around her and is extremely scared of the basement in her house. She has sweet and sour relationship with her only child BECKY POLLIN, a 16 year old typical teenager who wants nothing more in life than her freedom of being controlled by her mother. One day their imperfectly perfect life comes to a halt when THE ENCROACHER, a woman in her 40's intrudes in the house, claims to be the mother of Becky, wife of Julia's late husband JAMES POLLIN, owner of the house and is obstinate to get back what she believes she owns. Julia admits that Becky was taken from an orphanage but she isn't the daughter of The Encroacher. The Encroacher shows a paper stating that James has transferred the ownership of the house to her and therefore Julia has no longer the right to stay. However The Encroacher lets Julia stay out of kindness. Soon Julia realizes that her blog is being hacked and she has no stream of income. Moreover her bank account is being hacked and therefore she has no balance in her account. But what makes Julia scared is that her only daughter Becky starts being friends with The Encroacher and drifts away from her. Moreover Julia's OCD starts to get worse and she feels she is unwell and is losing her mind. Julia starts to freak out and calls a video editor guy and shows him the picture of James, The Encroacher and one year old Becky. The young guy is convinced that the photo is edited and photoshopped and people are cut out. Julia also starts to sneak in to The Encroacher's room and searches through her possession until she finds a business card that shows the name REGINA CLAY. She finds out that the The Encroacher's name is Regina Clay and is a former hacker for Government. On Becky's birthday Julia tries her best to tell Becky everything she knows but Becky is convinced that her mother is unwell and believes it is the The Encroacher who is her real mother. Julia calls the 911 explaining the situation and soon a policeman arrives at her door. Julia who has remembered the name tells the police that she is the wife of her dead rapist who she has murdered in the basement. Julia is convinced that the The Encroacher/ Regina Clay is back to take revenge on Julia for killing her husband. Surprisingly the policeman confirms that The Encroacher is the wife of James Pollin, mother of Becky and therefore the owner of the house. The police also informs them The Encroacher has a name which is RASHIDA JONES. Convinced that the policeman is with The Encroacher Julia fights back but is unfortunately locked up in her bedroom. One day when Becky is not in her house, The Encroacher unlocks the door. Julia and The Encroacher have a heated conversation where Julia is being hit by the The Encroacher. The Encroacher drags the body of Julia in the basement and when Becky is home she plans a trip with her for the long holiday. Becky who is told that her grandmother is ill and that Julia has gone to visit her senses something is wrong. She finds the business card of The Encroacher/Regina Clay and delves deeper in to the matter. Meanwhile The Encroacher walks in to the basement to find Julia alive. The Encroacher ties her up, gags her and finally forces her to tell the truth. Finally Julia admits that she once had an affair with The Encroacher/ Regina Clay's husband THOMAS CLAY and that she has killed him in the basement because he has chosen to go back to his wife, Regina and leave Julia. However Julia admits that she has committed a sin and that she is unable to forgive herself. Julia asks for forgiveness, tells The Encroacher that she is repenting and tries her best to convince her that she feels guilty for committing a heinous crime. Unconvinced, The Encroacher tortures Julia and leaves Julia in the dark basement and waits for Becky to come out of her room with her suitcase. Julia hears the car screeching and is devastated to learn the fact that her daughter, Becky has left her. Will Julia ever be rescued from the basement?
