The Last Ride....SYNOPSIS.
As a child, Bob was sexually abused by his stepfather.
This has obviously left indelible marks on Bob’s character, psyche, and behaviors which are misjudged by many as pedophillic.
His doting mother gave him a small stuffed teddy bear (Bobby Boy) for comfort. However, this toy has become Bob’s confidante and alter ego, with which he has discussions, takes advice from and has verbally violent discussions.
He is now an overweight, hardworking taxi driver in New York, married to a beautiful Hispanic lady, Gina whom he loves dearly.
Josh is a handsome lawyer, with an eye for the ladies, much to his wife Kim’s chagrin. He tends to ignore Kim and uses their two children as trophies. He is having an affair with one of his subordinates, which Kim is desperately trying to deny.
Bob and Gina have a neighbor, Norm, who is always prying into their lives, particularly when Gina is around whom he leches after.
Gina once worked as a call girl for a mob boss, Chubby, but now to all intents and purposes she is happily married to Bob. However secretly, every Wednesday, she tells Bob she is attending pottery class when in fact she is meeting with rich guys, as a high class hooker. All the while, Bob continues to work diligently, getting himself into trouble and confiding in ‘Bobby Boy’ for both comfort and advice.
She also has a sister who is in an abusive relationship and, when she is badly beaten by her boyfriend, so badly that she loses their baby, Gina turns to Chubby for retribution. When Gina informs Chubby of her sister’s plight and the identity of the boyfriend, he jumps at the chance to punish the perpetrator, as he also has a personal score to settle with him.
Meanwhile, Kim has had enough of Josh’s philandering and kicks him out of their home. He leaves and heads for the nearest bar.
Gina sets up a ‘meet’ between Chubby and her sister’s boyfriend, who is eventually tortured and butchered prior to being summarily executed, much to Gina and Chubby’s approval.
Bob In due course, discovers Gina’s ‘Hooker’ secret and returns home to confront her. He walks into a scenario of Norm having sex with Gina, who tells Bob that she was being raped. When Norm refutes that claim and tells Bob that Gina is a hooker, Bob shoots him in the head. He then pistol whips Gina.
Josh has had a bad day. He has probably lost his job, has been thrown out of his home and is roaring drunk in a local bar. His behavior becomes so unacceptable, he is thrown out by the owner to find his own way to a place of shelter for the night…He spots a cab…Bob’s cab.
Once in Bob’s cab, Josh tells Bob about his bad day, placing the blame squarely at Kim’s door. Bob listens as he drives, soaking in the self serving, juvenile rich boy seated in the rear of his cab. He allows him to finish and then stops the cab, in order to recount his own story, detailing his love for Gina and the burning need for his own family. Consequently, Bob tells Josh that he is a loser and that he has killed Norm. At this time a noise emanates from the trunk, and when Bob informs Josh that the noise is Gina who is locked in the trunk, Josh panics.
Bob tells him that they are parked on railroad tracks and the express train “The Southern Belle” will be slamming into the cab in….seconds, removing Gina whom he cannot trust, himself with whom he is disappointed, and Josh whom he is disgusted with….and last….Bobby Boy, who has been shot in the head.
The End.
